Ever since I could remember, one of the biggest goals that I have wanted to accomplish was to go into a profession that would be a great service to the community that I wanted to give back to. After a lot of self-exploration, I decided that I would become a teacher if that goal was to be met. I also find myself loving new challenges - the kinds of challenges that have me think critically about solutions to perplex problems. I love the challenges that ask me to "connect the dots" to find the solution. Because of this, I wanted to become a special education teacher.
I am currently placed in Penngrove Elementary School for student teaching in the Resource Specialist Program (with a concentration on the upper elementary grades - 4th, 5th, and 6th) and 3rd grade in the general education setting. My previous experience in education also comes from working as a substitute teacher and aide for Sonoma County Office of Education's Special Education Department (otherwise just known as "SCOE"). I have subbed in K through 12 SCOE classes for severely disabled and medically fragile students. My SCOE experience also includes working with students with emotional and behavioral disorders. Before becoming a substitute teacher and entering the credential program, I was a teacher's aide at Mill Valley Middle School - assisting in 7th grade Core -History/Language Arts and Pre-Algebra classes, and 6th grade Reading.
Teaching is one of my most favorite things in the world. I love helping students become successful and watching them grow because of my efforts. Along with this, I love working with my colleagues too, making the success a team effort. Aside from teaching, some of my other favorite past times include becoming absorbed into reading a good book, spending time with good friends and family, beginning (as well as reviving) hobbies such as music - violin and acoustic guitar - photography, and being with my dog Bodhi.
